The Beach May Need More Than Renourishment
Beachfront property in northwest Florida, the subject of a takings case currently pending before the U.S. Supreme Court, Stop the Beach Renourishment, Inc. v. Florida Department of Environmental Protection (08-1151), is expected to be among the locations where the oil spill in the Gulf makes landfall. The governor of Florida has declared a state of emergency in Walton, Okaloosa, and other Florida counties. Walton County and the City of Destin, located in Okaloosa County, are two of the respondents in the Supreme Court case. Link to video of the area from Florida news coverage is here.
